Whiplash

Whiplash is a term applied to injuries that occur to the neck when it is whipped in one direction and then jerked in another. Although this injury is common during auto accidents, it can also be incredibly damaging. Many whiplash injuries involve sprains—which happen when the ligaments that support, protect and restrict vertebral movement are torn—and strains—which occur when muscles and tendons in the neck are stretched beyond their normal limits. Even the discs between vertebrae in the cervical spine can be torn with whiplash, resulting in disc herniation.

The most common symptoms of whiplash include pain and stiffness in the neck and headaches at the base of the skull, and these symptoms can last for weeks or months, and even years if left untreated. Here at Bezak Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, we can provide quality chiropractic care to accelerate healing and ensure that your injury does not persist. With adjustments, therapeutic exercise and soft-tissue treatment can help control your pain and reduce muscle spasms.

If you’ve been in an automobile accident, Dr. Brian Bezak, Dr. Shaun Bezak and Dr. Kelly Krol-Bezak can ensure that your accident doesn’t cause you pain long after it’s over. Call 301-220-0496 to schedule an appointment in Greenbelt, MD.  For more information, visit www.bezakchiroandrehab.com.

Osteoarthritis

There are more than 100 different types of arthritis, and the most common one is osteoarthritis. While all the different types involve inflammation and swelling in and around the joints, osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that is caused by wear and tear as you age. Usually occurring in the weight-bearing joints, such as the hips, knees or spine, osteoarthritis can also affect your hands and feet.

Women are more likely to develop osteoarthritis than men and in those older than 60. However, osteoarthritis has been diagnosed in much younger individuals in their 20s and 30s. Some factors increase an individual’s chance of developing the disease, including heredity, obesity and overuse of the joint.

If you are suffering from osteoarthritis, Bezak Chiropractic and Rehabilitation can help. Our chiropractors can provide you with chiropractic adjustments to ensure your body is properly aligned and functioning properly. The doctor will also help you develop a therapeutic exercise routine, which will help you preserve a good range of motion, as well as build the strength in the stabilizing muscles around your affected joint.

If you are suffering from osteoarthritis, we can help alleviate your pain and improve your quality of life. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Brian Bezak, Dr. Shaun Bezak or Dr. Kelly Krol-Bezak, call 301-220-0496. For more information, visit www.bezakchiroandrehab.com

Lower Back Pain

Your lumbar vertebrae, or lower back vertebrae, are larger than any others in your spine and are responsible for supporting the weight of your upper body. While these vertebrae can withstand powerful forces form your lower back muscles during lifting, bending and twisting, it is common to experience lower back pain and injuries. At our office in Greenbelt, MD, the chiropractors have the experience and skills to provide you with effective chiropractic treatment for alleviating your back pain.

Lower back pain is commonly caused by muscle, nerve, ligament and spinal injuries, as well as by poor posture and degenerative diseases. Poor posture can cause accelerated wear and tear to your spine because undue stress can be placed on the lumbar vertebrae, while degenerative diseases, such as arthritis, can cause structures in the spine to break down and put pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. Nerve pressure in the lumbar spine can cause pain and symptoms to spread from the back to the buttocks, legs and feet because the nerves that exit the lumbar spine travel to these areas.

If you’re experiencing lower back pain, you do not have to resort to surgery or rely heavily on pain medication. At Bezak Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, many of our patients find relief from their pain through chiropractic treatments that include adjustments, intersegmental traction, trigger point therapy and other therapies, such as ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation and cryotherapy. These methods can alleviate tension, relieve pain and help restore proper movement.

Those experiencing lower back pain can turn to Dr. Brian Bezak, Dr. Shaun Bezak and Dr. Kelly Krol-Bezak. To schedule an appointment, call 301-220-0496. For more information , visit www.bezakchiroandrehab.com.
